1. Real First Name / Age / Primary Language / Time Zone:
My name is Will and I am 21. English - CST

2. Do you have an Authenticator? (They are Required by this Guild)
Yes I do, I downloaded it as soon as it became available on the Andriod Market.

3. What site or person led you to Escaper / Do you know anyone in Escaper that can recommend you:
I originally became interested in Escaper about six months ago. I believe I first discovered the guild browsing the World of Raids’ recruitment tool. Since then I have been tracking your progress on wowprogress and armory.

4. Can You Be Online And Ready To Raid with 99% Attendance Monday – Thursday 6:15pm – 10:30pm PST?
My only comment on this is I have an 8 week class coming up that could cause me to be as much as an hour late on Monday nights only. Beyond that, I have no issues.

5. School / Work Schedule Due To Dramatically change in the foreseeable future?
I will be transferring schools next fall but that should have no effect on these times.

6. Do you have any factors that may cause you to go AFK during raids (nagging significant others, kids, dogs, cats, arrest warrants)?
I have a very understanding girlfriend. No conflicts there.

10. Is this Your First Main Character? If not, what did you used to play?
No, I have played a warrior and a shaman very extensively.

11. Last 3 guilds you were in, including current, and reason for leaving:

All from US-Tortheldrin

Legend – This was a guild I put together with my friends. It was originally going to be a 10m guild for the original Wrath content. That proved to be far too easy so we eventually joined another guild and helped them start up 25m raids. This was Authority…

Authority – I was a senior officer in this guild and stuck with it till the end. We did reasonably well but in the end there wasn’t enough recruitment for our raid times (EST server). The final blow was the GM and co-leader taking off with the guild bank and 5-6 core raiders. After that my friends that helped me make the guild was it was quit the game and I started playing my hunter.

Explitus – This was originally intended to be a temporary thing while I looked for another guild for my hunter. I knew some people in it and they had the same raid times as Authority did so it was a natural fit. At some point I grew to like the people here and so I have stayed put for 6 months or so. However now I am ready to move on because this just isn’t the caliber of guild I am looking for.

12. Do you have any alts – if so would you be willing to run multiple raids either for learning purposes or to farm content?
I do have many alts including a shaman with Val’anyr. I am not sure how many of them I would transfer however. I am certainly welcome to the idea of running multiple raids.

13.

BWL - Nefarian
AQ40 – Twin Emps
Naxx – We ended up killing 5 bosses with Noth I believe being the most significant kill

The Burning Crusade Content Completed @ 70

14. How you would like to benefit from being in Escaper; why did you choose Escaper?
I would like to be able to play with people that are as skilled and determined as I am. Ever since I started playing this game in early ‘05 I have had loyalties to my friends that have prevented me from fully reaching this goal. I would like to be able to have confidence in my fellow raiders. I chose Escaper because I feel you have the skills to meet that goal and because I totally agree with the guild’s objectives and manners as described in the Charter and Expectations.

15. How do you feel about playing a role off the bench? Can you be ready on short notice if called upon? (Even if there is an opening for your class, it does not guarantee you playtime.)
This would not be a problem with me so long as I can be contacted via text message.

16. Are you willing to spend 400 gold a night in repairs and consumables, stay focused and wipe for 4 hours straight, come back the next day and do it all over again until a new boss dies (or even a "farmed" boss)?
This would not be a problem for me.

17. Can you maintain a high level of professionalism during raids AND on public forums – how sensitive are you to criticism?
I tend to always conduct myself rather professionally, particularly in public.

I do not mind criticism so long as it is warranted and in good nature. What I do not like is criticism that is mean spirited or immature. Everyone makes mistakes and so long as it does not develop into a pattern I do not feel they should be demoralized over it. Having been an officer of guilds in the past I know the former can be an easy approach with temporary results, but it does not help the raiders develop. Respect is key.

18. Do you have any PC or disconnect issues we should know about? If possible list your system’s specs.
My computer is solid with 20-40 fps in a raid environment. My latency is fairly stable on Bonechewer (made a lvl 1) usually under 200ms.
Who is your ISP? Mediacom Communications

19. Can you use Vent? Do you have a Microphone and Headset? Are you comfortable speaking on Vent?
Yes to all of the above, having been a raid leader for many years I am quite comfortable speaking.

20. Short Essay: This portion of the app is here for you to provide your "personal touch" and demonstrate your ability to articulate and show us what you are worth. Show us what sets you apart from the rest of the candidates; what makes you better? What can you bring to Escaper? What do you want us to know that wasn’t covered?
I will start by expanding on my raid history a bit. Back in Vanilla WoW I played a Warrior and was MT from MC up through Naxx. This was perhaps where I learned most about raiding and playing in a guild. I feel that playing as a MT teaches you a lot about situational awareness and how to react to a situation promptly and accurately. I learned to adapt to all sorts of unexpected outcomes and mistakes, of which there were many. This has carried with me throughout all the characters I play. Sometimes getting creative and doing things on the fly can spell success in spite of whatever went unexpectedly, I am not one to throw in the towel prematurely. I am always looking for better way to position fires, more logical places to stand, and things like that.

Also stemming from my vanilla WoW days is my love to strategize. I used to spend hours talking about how to more effectively approach encounters. Nowadays due to my guild’s progression by the time we get to a boss strategies are usually ironed out and posted online. I would love to be able to work out strategies as a guild again.

A note about my talents and gem choices:

I do use all of the available spreadsheets as a guideline or starting point for gearing out my character. However I also realize that sometimes these tools can be misleading and fail to simulate every encounter. For example, while I do match the description of the Arp stacking MM hunter that the spreadsheets suggest is max DPS…that has been the result of a lot of testing and retesting on my part. I have fine tuned my talents and tailored them for my needs in my current raid makeup. I have talents in rapid recuperation because in my current raids we often are without judgment of wisdom. My survival spec is setup with 1 pt in expose weakness and hunting party because I have found that I can keep upwards of 84% uptime with 1 talent given my crit rating. I typically go Survival on fights like Gunship and Dreamwalker. If there are any other questions feel free to ask as I more than likely have just the answer you are looking for.

Just got home from work, as a follow up here is a screen shot of my UI.

I have a logitech MX518 mouse and some of the things I bind to that are:

Aimed Shot
Multi Shot
Hunter's Mark
Kill command
Engineering enchant
Any use Trinkets I may have
Blood Fury
Misdirection

Otherwise all my skills are bound to my keyboard. The only things that I do click on a regular basis are potions, aspects, and Master's Call. For fights that I need to use things like parachute cloak, tranq shot, traps, etc... I will bind them.

Some noteworthy macros I use:

Silencing shot is macroed into my shot rotation

My Kill Command is macroed along with my engineering glove enchant as they share the same cooldown.

I bind my Call of the Wild in with my Rapid Fire to take full advantage of the cooldown.

Speaking of cooldowns, on a typical fight I will use all my cooldowns including Rapid Fire at the beginning of the fight when my trinkets are up. I will use Readiness and use them all again, waiting 15 seconds for Rapid Fire. I do this because most fights will last longer than 3 minutes so I will get to use the cooldowns again. On Festergut for example, my Rapid Fire comes back up right around 20% so I get to use that in combination with a kill shot / readiness / killshot.

One thing to note is that while Readiness does reset the cooldown on Kill Command, it does not on my glove enchant. For this reason I use my Kill Command a second time after using Readiness. This offsets the two cooldowns by a few seconds on my macro, but that is usually corrected after a short time. Some hunters will bind Kill Command to a shot rotation, but I like the extra control over my pet. This is the same reason I have pet attack bound instead of just included with all my shots. It is not always worth it to send my pet after a target what will die before he gets there.

Also, I make excellent use of disengage and my engineering boots. Some fights I find disengage particularly useful are Marrowgar, Saurfang, Festergut, Blood Queen, and Sindragosa.

Thank you for taking the time to fill out a nice app. However your levels of exp (espically for this xpac) are too low of us to consider you at this point in our hardmode progression. Best of luck in your guild search.
